Us humans find solace in the natural world as we are a part of it. Today, in a fabricated world, it is essential to re-attach our roots to nature in an urban life, especially in an industrial city like Bhiwadi. A survey was conducted to understand people’s perspective of green public spaces in Bhiwadi.

A survey to understand people's perspective of green public spaces by The Bhiwadi Lab

A majority of people in Bhiwadi, around 98.4%, love to spend time in nature. The most common spaces where people enjoy nature are the group housing society parks and personal gardens, as stated by 77% and 16.4% people respectively and community/neighbourhood gardens are usually not people’s first choice. There were around 5% people who never spend time in nature, and when asked a reason for same, a majority of them indicates a lack of the kind of green areas they prefer. The survey also suggests the absence of green public spaces in Bhiwadi as around95% respondents feel so.

Towards the end of the survey, people were also asked about the cities which they believe are greener and better and have much public aspect to the green spaces. Respondents mentioned cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bangalore, and hill stations of India like Mussoorie and Shimla and a few of them also indicated that nearby Delhi NCR regions like Gurugram, Noida and Alwar are greener than Bhiwadi.
